Our team effort in the May 2019 Walk10K challenge received an award from the Medical Fitness Association (MFA) for achieving the most steps in this national challenge! Thanks to the many members who participated, as well as area businesses, schoolkids and residents – this energetic community racked up a winning 63,918,822 steps! Fitness manager Patrice Barklund accepted the award at the MFA’s November annual meeting.

Another reason to celebrate: five schools received a $500 physical education grant from Culpeper Wellness Foundation for their participation: Yowell Elementary (26,626,100 steps), Emerald Hill Elementary (2,105,727 steps), Sycamore Park Elementary (2,156,450 steps), Floyd T. Binns Middle School (4,506,916 steps) and AG Richardson Elementary (2,358,324 steps). In addition, Novant Health UVA Health System Culpeper Medical Center (1,535,850 steps), Swift (5,168,557 steps) and Kid Central (6,692,129 steps) racked up an impressive total: 13,396,536 steps! All in all, our Walk10K 2019 was impressive and had plenty of successes to celebrate!
