Building on the community formed by participants in PWC’s Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) program combating Parkinson’s Disease (PD), PWC partnered with the area’s Parkinson’s Disease Support Group in 2021. The support group is open to community members with PD and caregivers, offering those with PD an avenue to continue informing themselves about the disease. Members typically come from Culpeper, Orange and Madison counties.

Support group facilitator Virginia Stanley emphasizes that anyone facing the challenges of PD is welcome. “The group is open to the public. Meetings are informal and address the needs of individuals and caregivers facing the impact of Parkinson’s disease. The benefit of our group is the exchange of experiences and information. Someone will share a challenge, and someone else may respond with a solution that worked for them. Our group provides a community in which participants support one another and check in with each other.”

The support group meets here at PWC on the second Wednesday of each month at 12:15 pm.
