Did you know that personal trainer Heather Boggess is certified as a corrective exercise specialist? As such, she speaks with clients in detail about any concerns they have, particularly related to discomfort, past surgeries, or limited movement.
During the first session with the client, Heather will assess basic movement patterns and look for imbalances on exercises performed. She then works with the client to develop a program to strengthen those areas to reduce discomfort and improve movement patterns.
One complaint that is frequently mentioned is shoulder pain. As Heather explains in the video below, the discomfort can often be related to bad posture, such as hunching over a computer. Heather suggests options to consider for strengthening, including an exercise with the Life Fitness row machine, or use of a resistance band.
A reminder: if you have any concerns or questions about your health, you should always consult with a physician or other health-care professional before starting a fitness program to determine if it is right for your needs.
