Instructors Karen Frazier and Eileen Moore are bringing even more variety to the fitness class offerings with POUND and Vinyasa Yoga! POUND with Karen is offered at both PWC and PATH Recreation & Fitness Center (PRFC): Thursdays at noon and – beginning February 9 – at 4:30 at PWC; and Wednesdays at 8:00 am at PRFC, with additional pop-up classes on the PRFC calendar. Vinyasa Yoga with Eileen is a flow-style class offered on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm and Thursdays at 10:30 am at PRFC.

Karen says, “Bringing POUND to PWC and PRFC is so exciting, and I’m ready to grow stronger together! I have always had a passion for sports and fitness and the older I get I understand the value in movement and strength to maximize longevity and better health.”

Karen was certified in 2020 as a personal trainer. Her goal? “To help people look and feel their best for years to come. It’s never too late to level up our health!” As a POUND Pro she is able to work with all ages from preschoolers to older adults to enjoy the benefits of movement and music. “Everyone loves being a rockstar!” she says.

Karen says that her 3 children and 5 very busy grandchildren keep her moving on the sidelines and with sleepovers. She loves the outdoors, boating, snorkeling, and fishing. In addition, she enjoys planning fundraising events for her charitable organization TeamHope Charities supporting funding of research and education to multiple cancer organizations.

Eileen draws on her background in education as well as specialized training for kids’ yoga; in addition to Vinyasa she offers a mini yoga session as part of the activity rotation during PRFC’s 6-week program for homeschooled children. She also developed and hosted the Tween Chill yoga & mindfulness class held in January at PRFC.

Eileen has a longstanding passion for fitness and in her spare time enjoys running, hiking and skiing with her husband.

Teaching is the thread running through Eileen’s professional life. Teaching children with special needs was a big part of her career and she also has directed a preschool, worked as a speech pathologist and owned a business offering art instruction as an after-school activity. With her education background and interest in fitness, teaching yoga was a natural new chapter. As a yoga instructor, Eileen observes, “I hope to continue learning as much as I can.” Looking ahead, she is interested in aligning her other interests – nutrition, plant based eating and women’s health – with her yoga teaching.

Eileen’s vinyasa flow class at PRFC offers a moderately cardiovascular style of yoga aligned with breath. If you are new to yoga (or any other new experience) her advice is: “Be where you are.” She invites members to sample her class and welcomes conversation about how yoga can support members’ individual needs.
