Balance & Stability joins class line-up
Balance & Stability joined the group exercise class line-up this month! Instructor Katie Hutchins observes, “The class might feel a little different compared to some higher intensity classes; the movements are not fast or particularly fatiguing, but instead focus on the different, subtle movements we can practice to reduce our risk of falling, and rehearse the movement patterns that keep us safe.”
This week’s class included clock face toe taps; building comfort with forward & backward leaning & correcting; a balance supporting step pattern using an agility mat; and stepping forward onto and backward off a platform. Plus a few deep relaxing breaths to wrap up!
Katie emphasized that consistent and frequent practice of balance exercises is the most effective way to improve balance and reduce the likelihood of falls. Come to class & have some fun, while building a menu of balance enhancing moves that you may do at home!
