We remain committed to doing everything we can to ensure that PWC is a setting where our members enjoy peace of mind and feel confident that their wellbeing is a top priority. This update reviews the health and safety measures in place and the status of programming.
Member safety protocols remain in place
We continue to follow protocols identified as effective against coronavirus, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and our own community of medical professionals and Medical Advisory Board. To review some of the measures:
·       We screen visitors through temperature taking and COVID-19 symptoms review at entry.
·       There is a full center sanitization twice daily in addition to ongoing cleaning by staff and equipment wipe downs by members.
·       Physical distancing is in place throughout our facility; 10 feet while exercising and 6 feet when not exercising.
·       Our staff wear masks.
·       Members are asked to wear masks when not exercising.
Please note that this is the “short list” comprising key areas of sanitizing, distancing and masking. The full list of health and safety protocols can be found on here.
Activities and amenities expanded with members’ safety in mind
Since reopening, we have carefully expanded our offerings to respond to member interest, while strictly adhering to maintaining a safe environment. One example: in the aquatic arena’s river, in addition to physical distancing, we are operating one way to avoid face-to-face contact by members enjoying the current. Also, additional time is allotted between aquatic activities to avoid crowding in the locker rooms. Another example: to spread out movement within the center and minimize face-to-face interaction, visitors to PWC use different entry and exit points.
Physical distancing of 10 feet for class participants is clearly marked in the GPX classroom. Programming additions in recent weeks include a mix of familiar favorites and new offerings. October calendar
While we continue to maintain physical distancing on the fitness floor, there is now more equipment available than in the first weeks of reopening. There is also some flexibility regarding equipment use and you may check in with the fitness desk to see about availability when you visit.
Certain amenities are now available with appropriate safety procedures in place. The café is open for enjoyment of coffee, smoothies, other beverages and snacks (café seating remains closed). For families interested in Kids’ Corner, we ask that members make child care reservations (for 1 hour) to help us adhere to current guidelines requiring fewer children in care. Members looking for evening flexibility will be happy to know that Kids’ Corner recently expanded its hours to include Monday-Thursday, 4-7 pm.
Exercise is critical to maintaining physical and mental health during this challenging and stressful time. If you would like to explore the benefits of personal training, our trainers are available for clients in the center and online.
