Looking for ease of movement? Get in the pool!
Certified fitness coach Sharon Steele will lead a 6 week small group training focused on fascial movement. Fascia is the layer of connective tissue below the skin that surrounds and supports the entire body. Healthy fascia assists the “slide and glide” of muscles, nerves and organs during movement. Sharon is certified by the Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Institute and the Aquatic Exercise Association.
How does aquatic exercise benefit fascia?
With regular aquatic movement, fascia will gradually adapt to the load put upon it by the hydrostatic pressure caused by the water, as well as the resistance created by moving through the water (with or without equipment). The buoyancy of the water also allows for natural 3-dimensional movement patterns with greater ease than out of the pool, when affected by gravity. Because the body is not working against gravity in the pool, the muscles and fascia are able to unwind more and the exercise is able to affect deeper layers of muscle.
Program objectives:
- Learn what fascia is and what the fascial system entails
- Learn the factors that differentiate healthy and unhealthy fascia
- Explore movement strategies for combating restricted, unhealthy fascia
- Leave with an aquatic workout you can follow for releasing restricted fascia!
This is a 6-week course with two classes per week (Mondays & Wednesdays), 6:30 – 7:00 pm.
Program fee: $165/members, $250/non-members
